Moral Debates
There have been numerous debates on whether or not the bombings in Japan were necessary or not, There are those that believe that such destruction could never be required. They argue that many more people were killed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki than in Pearl Harbor, and many suffered longer than necessary due to radiation effects. Many say that it was a unreasonable act of cruelty.
Others argue that it was unfortunate that so many civilians had been harmed in the crossfire. However, if the U.S. hadn't taken action, Japan would have. The most likely would have done some form of the equivalent to us had we not done it first. Not only that, but Japan was warned in advance, given a chance to surrender and evacuate. Many consider the situation to be right in the end, despite the numerous casualties.
The moralities and ethics are still constantly debated in the history world today.
