Pictures of the effects the atomic bombs had on Japan
As mentioned before, the atomic bomb is a highly destructive weapon. After being attacked, Nagasaki and Hiroshima were decimated and barely recognizable. They practically had to be rebuilt from the ground up. The blast destroyed everything in it's path, including the citizens. People were either left with severe burns or died, and not only that, there were consequences of the radiation. Many survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki developed various types of cancer soon after the incident.
After seeing the pain and struggle of what Nagasaki and Hiroshima were going through after the bombings, Japan surrendered. They saw what the U.S. could do if they continued the war, and they desperately wanted to avoid such destruction.
