THESIS
World War Two was a difficult and trying time for the United States. Thousands of people were being brutally murdered injured everyday. The country was desperate to terminate the war, and they were willing to do most anything. When the U.S. was alerted that Uranium, a potentially devastating and powerful energy source, was possibly being utilized by Germany as a bomb, their hand was forced. Thus, the Manhattan Project, an underground job that worked to develop the atomic bomb, was initiated as an act of defense. In December 7 1941, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in response to American expansion in Southeast Asia. America and Japan were sent into a long, destructive war. In order to end such a devastating war, America was forced to utilize their newly developed Atomic Bomb on August 5, 1945 in the cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It was a necessary evil that historians often argue about to this day. However, the Manhattan Project was a critical turning point for World War Two.
